Governor Susana Martinez Announces Expansion of Child Care Services to Hundreds of Low-Income Families

Albuquerque, NM — Today, Governor Susana Martinez announced that hundreds more lowincome families will now have access to child care services through CYFD at an affordable cost. The Governor announced that the Child Care Assistance Program, which serves nearly 18,000 families, will expand its eligibility requirements through the end of May.

Now, New Mexico families earning as much as 200 percent of the federal poverty line – an increase from the previous 150 percent – may apply for the child care assistance program. This includes more than 750 families who had previously applied but were put on a waiting list because their income was slightly over the eligibility requirement.
